Hey, does any external disk drive/optical drive work with the Retina MacBook Pro?

The only reason I ask is that I'm not sure the cheaper drives support USB 3.0.

You can use USB 2.0 with the rMBP.

usb 2.0 devices work with 3.0. so any portable dvd drive will work.
