External Display Issue

Using my TV as an external monitor via VGA. Used to be, when I plugged in my cord, the MacAir would automatically adjust the resolution. I plugged it in to an external projector and the computer automatically adjusted for 800x600 resolution. Now when I plug it back into my TV, it doesn't automatically adjust the resolution for the TV. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
 
You can setup a profile for it and have the icon for display in the menu bar if you want when connected so its a simple two clicks.
 
Found a solution. App in App store called "Display Monitor." Was able to change resolution to 1280x768 when laptop closed with that. Seems odd it's not a choice from the built in Apple resolutions.
