Hey i recently bought a mini display port to hdmi for my tv

http://www.amazon.com/Mini-DisplayPort-HDMI-Adapter-Cable/dp/B003OC6LWM

The Macbook doesnt recognize i have a tv in system settings/displays even if i press detect displays.

When the tv is off i see it under arrangements but when i turn it on it disappears again.

Was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it.

Thanks

It may be an issue with the cable itself. Have you tried a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter and then using a regular HDMI cable to connect to your television?

(I know it sounds odd, but HDMI can be a bit picky especially when being driven from a Mini DisplayPort connection on a Mac.)

I recommend the Moshi Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter, which can be found on Amazon.com.

Was on the wrong input for the tv. Doh!

The $9 cord works great and i already had a sound setup for an ipod to tv/system speakers and i just pluged it into the mbp and it all works great! No need for an expensive adapter and a cord. ... ONly problem now is souund ... there is a ringing noise from the sound cant seem to get that to go away...
