My new external drive is mounted as a Time Machine Backup and is visible, mountable, and demountable using Disk Utility. It's backing-up yet isn’t visible in Finder now, after I forgot to dismount a few times. External device is ticked to be displayed in Finder. Big Sur installed. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is this a direct connected drive, or a network drive (eg Time Machine share from another computer, or connected to a router ?

As far as I know direct connected Time Machine drives always show (unless the Finder setting not to show of course). Mine always have.

There is a thread about hiding it here but not clear if it was successful.

Time Machine creates a sparsebundle image on Network drives, which it mounts and unmounts and is normally invisible. Is that what you are asking about? If so afraid I have no suggestions.

Mike, it's a direct connect stand-alone MacBook. I read all the posts in thread about hiding it here but nothing jumps out. It shows-up on the desktop but not in Finder. As the external drive is only 1 week old, I'll try an erase and start over.
