I'm sure getting this a lot lately. Finder says in use, but nothing is running and I can't eject portable drives or external. I have to log out or force it to eject. Anyone experiencing this?

I was able to unmount it and run Disk Utility. Although it passed it came up with several lines of this message: I don't know what it means. I'll try to do a search but if anyone knows, please advise if this is a big problem that may cause my drive to fail.

warning: object (oid 0x24282cd2): Unable to mark physical extent range (0x24282cd2 + 4096) allocated for space verification

IF you have a way to back up the drive, it might be worth doing this:
1. Back up the contents somewhere else
2. Re-initialize the drive using Disk Utility
3. Run the repair disk function on it a few times, do you get a good report each time?
4. Restore the data to it from the backup drive.

I'll have to do that then. I have to buy another external drive to be able to copy the drive and re-initialize it after. At least its currently working normally, except for the fact that I can't Unmount it to run Disk Utility. I have to boot in Safe Mode to be able to unmount it and run Disk Utility.
