External Drives not showing up

On the desktop, they are not there. I did go into finder/pref/checked external disks

They are however seen in the finder window and I can access them. However, they are not showing up on my desktop. They used to be there

I assume you checked that on the General tab, and not the Sidebar tab in Finder Preferences. Strange that they wouldn't show up. Did you try relaunching Finder?
