External GPU with 2.9 GHZ i9 2018?!?!

Right now its struggling with this animation plugin on...
But when I do come across this issue with just regular layers and layer masking then I can send you the entire library to test out. That would be interesting.

Lastly, heres the screenshot when the frames start skipping and the system seems to struggle.. lemme know what you think.

Right okay, right there it's clear that the GPU is definitely doing a lot of work; The GPU Processor bar is at what looks like 80-90%
You're definitely not thermal throttling at all in any situation, but you could still be performance limited by the GPU, so yeah, an eGPU could help since the GPU does seem to be nearly pegged, yeah

Actually just thought of another free workaround for some of your issues; Bit of a workflow killer, in that it takes some time to do but would definitely smooth things out.

Once you have the plugin and layers how you want it for a certain section, export that section as a new clip, and then put the exported version in your timeline; Then it won't have to deal with the plugin and layers as individual components, it'll just be one simple video file
