Hello,

I have two external hard drives, one is Time Machine and one holds all my media files. The one which holds all my media files just failed but luckily Time Machine was backing it up. I am going to go buy a new hard drive but I was wondering what is the best way to get the data off of Time Machine that was on my old media hard drive to my new hard drive?

If I were to name my new hard drive the same as the old one which failed could I just go to time machine and would it give me the option to revert it to an older date or would it know it is a different hard drive even if it has the same name?

Any suggestions would help, thanks!

For those who were interested, I bought the new drive and named it exactly the same as my old drive which crashed. Then I went back in time with time machine and it allowed me to restore the drive.
