    not quite less than $100

I've been looking for a backup drive for my MacBook. I had used an older iMac for this purpose, but I'm about to get rid of that. I had been eyeing the Western Digital MyBook drives, specifically the Home Edition because it has FireWire 400 connection, and it seems to me that the USB 2.0 isn't going to cut it. But that drive costs around $140.

The other reason I'd been tending towards the WD drives, is that if you look at CNET, the editors and the users' reviews correspond most on the WD drives. Other drives get high ratings from the editors but the users pan them (e.g., LaCie drives).

If you are willing to go without the Firewire connection, you can definitely find something for less than $100.

Check out Newegg.com and Frys (physical stores) if you live near one. Lots of HD deals every week.
