I just recently got a macbook, and my old laptop, a compaq presario 2500, died. The hard drive is ok, so I tried to get the pictures and music off of it by putting it in an external enclosure and hooking it to my mac. When I plug it in, it does nothing, and the software that came with the case doesn't have any type of help menu on it.

I wasn't trying to wipe the hard drive, just copy the data off of it onto this computer. Is there something I am doing wrong.

Does the external case come with its own power supply?
It sounds like its not getting enough power it needs to function.
