External Hard Drive Issue

I have been using my GDrive Slim 500gb USB3.0 external hard drive for about 6 months.

Came on today to quickly do a backup and the HD isn't showing. Now i have turned it off to show if a HD is connected for it to appear on the background. But when i open finder its not even picking it up there, when i try to back up it says 'You must connect the disk first'.

All appears to be ok, I can hear/see the light on the HD so i know there is power going to it. And i can't see it in Disk Utility.

Any advise?

Try re-starting computer with the ext. drive attached and see if it picks it up.

What does Disk Utility see?

The drive may be hosed. It happens. Hope you have a backup.

If you have access to another computer, see if it reads in another machine.

It's picking up on other computers
