Ok so I have a WD external passport that will no longer appear on my Macbook pro. I tried to run a firmware update on the HDD that didn't finish. Since then it will not even show in disk utility. It will connect to my iMac just fine. I also have a WD 2 TB Hard drive that runs time machine on my iMac that will not mount to my Macbook. Could I have done something to my Macbook that would make it stop recognizing HDD all together?

Did you try the usual finder--> preferences? Do you have another machine that you can hook it up to?
Yeah it works all of my hard drives work on my iMac. But since I tried the firmware update non of the hard drives will work on my mbp!

I could try it on a my roommates pc. That would be my only other option
Go to Apple Store and show it to the Genius. They surely will have an answer for this. I doubt a firmware update will cause this though.
