1 broken mac, screen dead - may be able to access the hard drive, but with migration assistant I don't see (literally) how I can. Or can I?

1 External Hard drive, with what appears to be the entire contents of the old mac on it. I can't seem to find the applications I need to restore to new mac, and the Address book won't update, even when I trash the one on new computer, and load the old one.

iBook G4 - both models same. word new when speaking of these macs not taken literally, I'm guessing 2004 models.

***grrr, I know that this is possible***

Get a Firewire cable, start up the broken iBook in Target Disk Mode (hold down T when it starts up), connect it to the working iBook with Firewire. You'll see the disk from the broken iBook right on the desktop. Move files as needed.

And please use complete sentences. Reading that gave me a headache.

If you actually want to restore the system from the broken iBook, you can run Migration Assistant on the new one and everything will be copied over. Otherwise, just grab files from the drive as needed.
