External Hard drive not recognized by the Apple TV

I bough an Apple TV recently. I got a 1 Therabite seagate hard drive but my apple tv does not recognize it. I plug a smaller hard drive (100 MB) and it reads it very well.
Could anybody suggest what the problem could be?

I guess I just assumed the OP did a hack to be able to read the smaller external because, yes, ATV does not natively read external HDDs.

I think to get better help, you need to tell what hack/software add-on you used to be able to view the external so others who have done this might be able to help you out.

To be able to use an External USB drive you need to use Patchstick or ATV Flash to run a hack that enabled external storage.

How did you activate the USB port ?
