so my friend wants to lend me his External Hard Drive soon so i can get a few songs from it. How would i go about that? is it as simple as connecting the hard drive to my mac and draging files from the external to my hard drive? or some other way?

Digital rights management. It is in some of the older (>2years) songs purchased from iTunes.

Absolutely correct. Just plug in the drive to your MBP and it is good to go. I had to pull files off of my girlfriends' Dell (had a serious bad virus), so I took it out and installed it into my external's case. Worked super good and EASY SLEEZY!

have you ever used a computer before? :p

You got it right! but maybe you should go on the apple website and have a look at the mac 101 and switcher pages and videos for some tips on how to use the mac. You might find out about new things you can do with yours!
