I had a new hard drive installed at Apple today because my previous one was failing. Before Apple took my machine, I backed up to my WD 3200BEV external hard drive. Today, I plugged in the WD and it isn't mounting.

The WD does show up in the System Profiler (under USB) and in Disk Utility.

Any suggestions?

Vitals:
MBP
15", Late 2008
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
OS X Lion 10.7.2

Thank you.

Spoke to Apple today and they said it's now a preference in Lion to have your hard disks show up on your desktop.

To change:
Finder>Preferences>General
-from here, select which items you'd like to appear on your desktop including External Disks.
