hey, i had a lacie rugged 1TB HD and it failed after a less than 12 months and was used about 10 times.

really dissapointed.

any better brands/reccomendations? Its only going to be used as a backup drive and be used every month or so to backup. any reccomendations please on something atleast semi-reliable?

No platter-based hard drive is more reliable than any other. Buy the one with the best warranty for your budget and size requirements.
