I have an external hd I have been using with my pc, well now that i got a mac, it is going to be used only for the mac, my question is how do i reformat it entirely so I have that fresh hd that I once had, thanks!
You'll go into Disk Utility (located in Applications/Utilities folder), highlight the drive in the left-hand column, click on the Erase tab, choose Mac OS Extended Journaled as the format type, and click erase.
Use "Disk Utility" to reformat the hard drive in Mac OS Extended (HFS+ format).
It's not very complicated. You just select the correct drive in Disk Utility, then select the Erase tab, choose your format and drive name and click erase.
