I recently purchased a MBP 17inch i7 with 5400rpm hd. Will a External Hard Drive with 7200rpm improve the overall application speed or gaming speed like if i installed Starcraft2 in my External hard drive, will it be smoother than just installed in the internal Hd?thx a lot for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!

No because your limited to FW800 or USB...both which are slower then the internal sata

This^. In fact, it would likely be slower if you put it on an external. Plus the smoothness of the game has nothing to do with the hard drive, that is all GPU.

Yes, that is what he/she means. But that will only make it load faster, not play faster. Game speed doesnt depend on hdd speed, it depends on the processors(cpu and gpu) and ram(I believe someone said in another thread that the game stores most of the stuff in ram for play.)

No. It won't do ***** either way. Except maybe loading a bit faster.
