I formatted my EXT HD with my MBP because for some reason I couldn't modify the while in OSX. After I formatted it I was able to add, edit, modify things on my ext hd. But when I turn on my hd in windows, it won't detect. Is there something I'm missing? Please help.

Mac defaults to a disk format called HFS+. Windows cannot read this.
You need an additional program like macdrive

To use the disk with both Windows and OS X and without additional software, you need to re-format the drive as FAT32.
You will have to erase the disk to reformat so BACKUP BEFORE RE-FORMATING
You can format in FAT from either windows or XP.
