    Hello,

Firstly I don't really know much about the above devices so apologies in advance.

I've got a 2005 iMac (ALS Version) and need something to store music, some photos and a few files on until I get a new iMac. (Max 300GB but could quite comfortably cope with under 250GB)

I don't need anything fancy, just something solid which will do the job of storing those items and work with both the old and new iMac.

I'm in the UK so it may narrow down any availability of products.

    Thanks all.

I've tried many different brands of external HDs. The Western Digital external drives seem to do very well. I haven't had one of them fail on my yet (out of the 5 that I own).

The Western Digital is what I went with. Best buy had a great sale on a 1.5 TB. It was PC formatted in FAT but I formatted and partitioned it for a MAC with no problems

Go to OWC, they are a great mac supplier, and their customer service is great. Which is important when or if you have a problem. You can actually talk to a live person instead of email support from seagate and WD
