Hi guys, I tried to search but couldn't find anything suitable.

I'm looking for a new external HDD. Here are my criteria:

    • Under £100
    • Ideally both USB and Firewire (but I'll consider just USB)
    • Reliable!
    • At least 500 gigs
    • Mains powered

Anyone aware of any good ones about at the moment? I saw in another thread someone recommended a My Book, but they're a bit expensive from what I can find.

Thanks for your input! If there is a thread like this that I missed feel free to point me in the right direction.

    Edit:

Oh, and fast would be nice, but comes last after my other requirements.

I'd prefer a 3.5" really, just because the space isn't such an issue. This is to stay on my desk.

Thanks for the link. I'll have a look through. There's no prices on the list though unfortunately, but I'll definitely check through and reference that link if I get any suggestions.

    Because the prices change frequently.

Yeah, that makes sense. I've tried searching hard on ebuyer/overclockers/amazon, I'm just struggling to find something that meets my requirements. Wish I had a bit more money to spend, but my disk is filling up very quickly with the projects I'm doing and I'm unable to back up as my current external is too puny :(.

I think it's actually the firewire/usb combo option that I'm after that is pushing the price up. I can easily find disks that fill the other requirements well within my budget. Maybe I'll just look for fast USB drives.

If anyone has any suggestions still though based on my original post, that'd be really helpful.
