External HDs and iPhoto?

I was just looking though my computer and I found that my photos in iPhoto are taking up 10+ GB of space. I've been thinking about getting an external HD. If I put photos on this, are they viewable in iPhoto the same way as if they were on my HD in 'Originals'.

Any help is much appreciated.

Yeah. What you can do is drag the iPhoto library to the external drive. Then, next time you open iPhoto make sure you hold OPTION and select the library from the external. 🙂
