External iSight (2005) Not working

It doesn't show up in System Profiler and as something in the firewire port, but I'm pretty sure it's not the firewire cable because when I plug it in, the green light glows for a few seconds then I hear a whirring and it stops. Need some help! I don't have another webcam/mic 🙁
