hello, i've never dropped my Macbook or external MBP before but i was using Aperture with an external HDD. I was updating a vault and accidentally bumped my external HDD and it fell to the ground while writing the vault. it fell about 2 feet high to the carpet. not a very hard drop but i'm wondering how i can tell if my drive is totally broken or if i can fix this?

You can tell if it's broken by plugging it in and seeing if it works. If it works, it's not broken. If it doesn't, there's probably physical damage and you're best off getting a new drive.
