I am having an issue with my aluminum MacBook and clamshell mode. I am able to get the external monitor working when the lid is open with no issues. Once I close the lid the Macbook goes to sleep. Tapping a key on the external keyboard or moving the mouse does not wake it either. When I open the lid back up the external monitor does not detect the MacBook and I have to reconnect my mini display to VGA adapter to get the display back to the DELL monitor. Any ideas? I have tried everything from restarting and plugging in the monitor and shutting the lid right away. It just seems to not want to output video when the lid is closed. Any help would be great.
