External Monitor breaks Dock/Expose at Disconnect

I have several weird issues with my M1 MBP 14" which all seem related to Dock. I have an external monitor connected via USB-C and most of the time that I disconnect it I get some of the following:
-Dock is missing
-Windows are hidden/stuck on an imaginary monitor
-Expose has a bunch of ghost windows lingering

Opening terminal and doing 'killall Dock' gets things back to normal, but pretty annoying. I've reset Dock settings with no luck. Any ideas?

No, I mean it might not cause the problem but then there’s not much use as an external monitor. Does Mac not support extended displays? I come from the Windows world...

I don't get it. Are you using as Extended or not?
