Hi guys!

I have a beautiful new $1k Viewsonic VP3881 ultrawide monitor (3840x1600). I'm less than stoked on the text and detail rendering on it so far. I've read about these monitors not rendering text as well as a rendering on the laptops retina screen. I get it will never be the same but is this normal? See the icon for OSX's Notes app. On the laptop screen you can see the lines on the notepad paper, but on the monitor it's just a blank white sheet because the monitor can't process the detail! Crazy... Any suggestions?

In case anyone comes across this with their own issue, I think I problem solved it. It was set to MAC mode (which I thought meant Apple, but maybe not?) In fact ANY of the profile settings including Video Editor make it look AWFUL. It MUST be left on sRGB mode, which unfortunately makes the monitor not as bright, but if you set it to sRGB, then go into custom settings, once it switches to custom you can up the brightness and modify the gamma slightly (I found 2.0 best). Text and image rendering is MUCH better and not the jagged lines. Is it Retina? No, but MUCH better than the images I shared.

Hi! I'm considering buying this monitor. So I would appreciate a personal review/opinion. Are you happy with it? I have Mac Mini 2018 as well as MBP 2019 and I intend to use it for semi-professional photography as well as heavy, boring office use. Thanks in advance!
