External Monitor Display Problems

Hello.

I have my 2011 MBP and in clamshell mode I can't seem to get it to run on anything better than 1680 x 1050. Its a 16:10 aspect 24 inch monitors which supports up to 1920 x 1200.

Is it because I'm using the minidisplay to VGA via an adapter or should VGA be fine up to 1920 x 1200?

Im pretty sure you cant run full HD with a VGA cable.
Buy a minidisplay to HDMI adapter and plug a HDMI cable.
