External monitor : DisplayPort or DVI ?

I want to connect my Dell U2212 to my riMac. The Dell has VGA, DVI and DisplayPort (normal size, not mini) input ports. So VGA is out (lol). What's best ? DVI or DisplayPort ?

Theoretically, the DP and DVI would have the exact same digital signal and function identically. The cable like kendrickhphoto linked will be cheaper than a MDP to DVI adaptor though, so I would of that route.
