I have an external monitor connected to a 2012 15" cMBP via a DP->DVI adapter. When I put the Mac to sleep, the external monitor stays on. The monitor goes to sleep correctly when connected to any other computer.

Any ideas?

My 2010 17" MBP did the same thing over mDP to HDMI.
My rMBP does the same thing as well from HDMI out.

Connected to a Samsung display.

When connected to my PowerMac G5 over DVI = No issues when sleeping.

Not sure what causes this, but I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the connection type?

Hello,

I meet the same problem with MBP 15" 2012. The problem occurs with Samsung 27" SA850 (connected with mDP-DP) and Nec 19" 19070NX (connected with Apple mDP-DVI adapter).

Some weeks ago everything was fine.

It seems the problem is with MBP.

Any ideas?

It seems it was a software problem. I unplugged MagSafe from MBP and external monitor for some minutes and it is fine now 🙂
