Im trying to hook up an Acer 1080p monitor to my 2016 Macbook, but its not picking it up. I hook up the HDMI cable and it wont show up in the display settings on the Macbook.

Im using:
http://www.amazon.com/Powered-Type-...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-R240HY-b...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Is there any way that I can get this current set-up to work? Do I just need to by the Apple adapter and not a third party one? Should I switch to DVI?

This is my first post so bear with me. Thanks

I'm always a bit leery about third party adapters especially a hub which purports to do as much as that one. I doubt DVI is going to work any better but you can certainly try. I think I would go with a genuine Apple Adapter to see if that works with the Acer. (It should) And if it does, return the one you bought from Amazon.
