Here is my setup:
15" Unibody MBP Notebook
22" Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW Monitor
Apple Wireless Keyboard + Mouse
I want to be able to use the monitor as an external display. I have a mini display port to VGA adapter, and everything is connected properly.
The problem I am having is the external monitor wants to be the "primary" monitor when I plug it in, with the MBP as the "secondary" monitor. Because the notebook uses the resolution of 1440x900 and the external monitor uses 1680x1050, I can't get the monitor to mirror the notebook at 1680x1050 (when I set it to this resolution, the external monitor blinks off and on and eventually says there is no display.) It seems that if there was a way to have the notebook be the primary monitor, I could get this to work.
