I can't get my new BenQ SW271 to connect no matter which cable I use on my new 2018 15" MacBook Pro Vega. Mohave just won't recognize an external display and weird stuff happens like the sound goes. The BenQ has load of connections including USB-C, DisplayPort, and HDMI. Anyone else experiencing this? Any advice?

I have Mojave 10.14.1
Just seen the update I will load this and see if it fixes this!

May be a faulty monitor, are you sure you have the right input selected on the monitor itself?

It's normal for the sound to go out as it's likely being routed to either HDMI or DisplayPort.
