I didn't get anything from the iPad, no mirror or anything. But the Mac plugged into same hub works fine.Do you get anything on the monitor? Did you connect a mouse at the same time? If you don't, you just get a mirrored display.

Yes, the mirroring with the black bars worked just fine. Its a Samsung display with a Hyperdrive hub and HDMI cable.Did the same hub + cable work with 15.x? I have an M1 12.9 and it works on 16 beta with an Anker hub and HDMI cable (and with USB-C to DisplayPort).
As @sparksd mentioned… did you connect a keyboard and mouse to that same hub? A keyboard AND mouse is required to use Stage Manager. And what iPad are you using?I didn't get anything from the iPad, no mirror or anything. But the Mac plugged into same hub works fine.
I had it connected to the MK, its the M1 12.9 IPP 2TB. The multi tasking option was showing up on the IPAD it was just the external display doing nothing. As @sparksd mentioned… did you connect a keyboard and mouse to that same hub? I did notice that wasn’t there. However in control center the volume control shows “dock connector”if you connect the hub to your iPad is it recognized, do you get a status icon?

The iPad needs to be connected to a mouse and keyboard for Stage Manager external display to workIs anyone running beta IPADOS16? I downloaded it today. So far everything I’ve tried works except external display. I tested the hub with my macbook and its good. Any suggestions?

It turns out is is the hub. I picked up a USBC to HDMI Cable today and the display came right up and works. Thanks for the replies! Is it a DisplayLink hub by any chance? I had the same problem with my DisplayLink hub which worked previously. I ended up buying a simple cheap hub off Amazon instead that wasn't using DisplayLink.

Funny enough public beta 2 was available. I downloaded that and now the hyperdrive hub works! That's interesting, given the popularity of the HyperDrive hubs. You'll have to recheck as new versions of 16 come available. Glad you got something to work.
Good to see that they addressed the issue.Funny enough public beta 2 was available. I downloaded that and now the hyperdrive hub works!
