External Monitors -- Questions

Are there any requirements for an external monitor to hook up to my 2011 13' MacBook Pro?

I don't want to spend another $900-1000 on a screen, so I would be looking at other manufacturers. Do I need a specific screen or cables to connect the MacBook Pro and the screen?

Would I also need an Apple Wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse/Trackpad?

You will most likely need an adapter from mini display port to whatever input the monitor has. Alternatively, you can buy a cable.
There are no specific requirements for the monitor to make it work with your MacBook Pro.
