External NTFS drive stuck in read only

Hi-
I have an external NTFS formatted drive from Western Digital that is stuck in read-only. The drive was supplied pre-formatted.
How can I change the drive so that I can write to it again? It already has data on it and is there any way to solve this without reformatting the external drive?

Mac OS X can't write to NTFS formatted drives native, you'll have to install something like Paragon NTFS for OS X!
