i looking to buy a 4+T internal HD to mount in an enclosure to store/condense all my CR2 (cannon camera) files/jpeg pictures
off my old 1T hard drives

But Leary of what brand to buy
not interested in speed ONLY the longevity-life of the drive

ya I could go to an SSD but not wanting to spend the cash for something im just saving into, rarely extract from
and spend most of its life stored on a shelf

3 brands im looking at
entry level
Toshiba
Western Digital-Blue
Seagate-Barracuda

You likely want 8TB+ for western digitals, and 10TB+ for seagate found in WD mybooks and seagate expansions. When you go with smaller sizes, you risk buying SMR (instead of the nicer CMR). Not only are these slower under extended write operations, the tech is pretty new so hard to say how good they are.

Also at these sizes, you get enterprise grade stuff like WD reds, Seagate ironwolfs, and even an Exos if you're lucky (although they're likely binned poorly compared to their retail counterparts but still better than the regular barracuduas/blues)
