I have a new Transcend external SSD I use to store my Lightroom Catalog and develop photos in Lightroom, it's a little faster than on my internal 3TB Fusion Drive.

For awhile I've been getting the "Disk not ejected properly" warning sometimes after waking the computer from sleep, sometimes while it's already awake.

If I unplug it and plug it in again it won't appear, and it's not in Disk Utility either. I verified and repaired the disk in Disk Utility but an hour later it happened again. Only after a restart will it mount again.

What is the problem? Can anyone help me out with this, please?

You probably already have done this, but…

… have you opened the Energy Saver preference pane, and UN-checked the option "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" ….?

Thanks Fishrrman yes I've already done that and it didn't make any difference.
