External SSD on USB going to sleep crashing finder

Hi

Does anyone else find that an external SSD over USB3 goes to sleep and when you go to use it, it causes a finder crash? The only way to resolve it is unplug the drive.

(OSX Mavericks, 15inch 2013 Retina Macbook Pro).

Seems to be sleep mode related.
