Ok so let me start this thread with an explanation of what I'm trying to accomplish.

I just sold my Mac Pro and took the 4 1TB HDDs out with all my data still intact. I will be purchasing a new MacBook Pro in the next month and while I already have a 4bay RAID 5 setup for my image library backups I am a bit stumped as to what to do.

I do have a time machine backup of drive 1 (and I'm pretty sure drive 2 as well), drives 3 & 4 are dedicated to my images, and are both backed up on the RAID I mentioned.

Is there a way to mount all 4 drives in an enclosure and just access the content that is on them presently? I don't want to wipe them out yet until I am sure I have all the important content saved where it needs to be, but once it's all set I would like to reconfigure this arrangement into another RAID setup.

That being said, is it ok that they are not all matching drives? 2 are WD Caviar Black 7200rpm and 2 are Seagate Momentus 7200 rpm, all four are 1TB capacity.

I'm just nervous as I don't want to wipe these drives yet but I've never tried to do something like this before, it sounded like a JBOD setup was the right answer, but I'm reading a lot of conflicting answers as to how exactly that works.

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you.
