For a long time I just used a 12 foot USB extension cable inline with my charger. Worked great. Probably a fire hazard, but oh well.

i was working for apple helping them setting the desk for the demo phones and ipad and i managed to obtain some of the original 3 metre usb cables, it still has the micro sensitive sticky switches on them but i just cut them off and use it as a charging/usb cable.

I was going to say I just use a USB extension cable that I got free with some Xbox headphones I bought. Works a treat and does exactly the same job for half the price
