Hi,

Im a long term windows user and new-ish to Mac.

Im thinking of getting a Mac with a 1TB hard drives as I will need to be running windows too using bootcamp.

As well as the windows partition I would also like another partition because, well, its windows and I will need to save my work somewhere safe. I dont really want to backup to an external drive as I want the work always with the Mac, and not to cloud in case I dont have connectivity.

Is this possible when windows is already installed via bootcamp?

Whilst what you wish to do is possible and possibly better to do before bootcamp and install W10 manually

I think you need to look more at security issues of disk encryption etc as your 3rd partition for backup maybe vulnerable

Alternatively you could look at parallels or even a utility that allows both OS's to read/write to each OS partition

Im sure that when I originally set up botcamp I split the drive into 4 partitions, 1 for each OS, and each OS having a separate partition to save files to.

I think I remember bootcamp not liking that and would only install if there was just one extra partition.
Its been a while back since I did that and I was very new to Mac back then, so I'm happy to be told I'm wrong!
