Hello guys,

A few days ago I had iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 and I updated it to iOS 9 because I couldn't run some cool new apps etc... Before I updated, I made sure I that iTunes made a backup of my iPhone. I updated my iPhone through iTunes without any problems.

The problem is that some of the apps got deleted. One of them was an app called "downloads" and it contained all my music. My question is can I extract all those mp3 files from the iTunes backup, which is located on my computer. I downloaded some programs on my computer that managed to open my backup but none of them could extract the mp3 files. I could only extract the history of that app (history of the internet browser which is incorporated in the app.)

Did iTunes forget to backup the mp3 files or what?
Much obliged.

Only case where you can extract those MP3 files from backup is that app developers properly put their documents in folders where iTunes backup will definitely include, or otherwise, you will permanently lose all of them.
At most cases however, this is unlikely. You can try to search your previous backup using apps like iExplorer but don't hold your breath.

This is also my proof that iTunes backup does NOT backup everything, rather, it backup selected app data and device settings.
