Is there a way I can get the actual value of a QR code out of the Camera app, rather than follow whatever action it is that iOS thinks the QR code is for? I'm trying to use the code on another device.

One option is take a picture of the QR code - then in Photos, touch & hold the code.

It should show the value (URL, I assume?) and give an option to “Share” (Messages, Email, AirDrop, whatever)

Sadly, that didn't work - clicking the QR code in the photo simply prompted iOS to offer the same default action.

Also, it's not a URL, it's an OTP setup code.

I am very serious about security and tracking parameters. I am using an App called Clean Links. It is free, does not collect anything and does everything on device:

I am using it mostly to scan QR Codes an check the links in it. Also I use it with a Shortcut to clean my links.

I am not affiliated with the company or whatever. I just really like this app.

When you open the camera and point it at the QR code, there's a button that appears to the right. Touch that, and you get the option to Share, Copy link, Add to Reading List, or Open in Safari when pointed at a QR code for a URL. If it's not for a URL, it should just give you the options for Copy and Share.

Select copy and you should be able to paste it in your Notes app or wherever you'd like. Does that work?

Sadly, no. Clicking that button immediately opens Passwords, which is the same thing as the primary action "Add verification code in Passwords".
