Extracting R1 DVD on R2 MacBook - Handbrake Crashing. HELP!

Righty ho.. I've purchased a Region 1 edition of the ABC show Brothers and Sisters.

I've changed my Region setting to R1, to allow the MacBook to 'understand' the DVDs.

DVD Player plays them fine - but Handbrake will crash as it scans the titles.

I'm currently using MacTheRipper to rip the whole DVD.

How can I use it to rip selected titles - there are 4 episodes per disk.

Or is there a way to use Handbrake and bypass MTR?
