Hi bozz2006,
I visited a friend who has a PC and we tried to flash my dead drives in DOS to no avail.
Then we tried the Dangerous Brothers region-free flasher (in Windows) and BOOM the drives were back running.
Now, back on my Mac, I applied the files you provided earlier (thanks!) and that worked fine.
My only concern is that the drive (did it on only one of the two up to now) is now recognized as a "DVR-112" instead of "DVR-112D". Is that normal and does it matter at all?
I'll try the 1.28 update now...
EDIT: OK, the drive didn't like the 1.28 firmware file; tried it along with the *.115 kernel file you posted earlier. This made the flashing process abort halfway through (firmware "0000"). Luckily I could flash it back to 1.24.
I'd be glad if someone could tell me how I can get the drive to firmware-version 1.28, but it's not that important to me.
