When will they come out with a "tuner" that hooks to the cable box and tells it what to do so you don't have to flip the stations on the cable box?

Tivo has a serial cable that goes from the cable box to the tivo...

How are you supposed to schedule recordings if you are not able to change channels on the box when you are gone?

Just received my (US) EyeTV Hybrid in the mail. It works wonderfully on the MacBook Pro. On the Power Mac it seemed a little less fluid, though my processor is always doing other things.

I used it to watch OTA HD with an antenna I had from an old piece of HD-Tuner kit. I don't think it's a very good one, but it works well... almost no skipping / problems. Quality looks good.

The Hybrid is a little stick. I'm a little concerned because it seems like it could be ripped out if someone tripped over the cable - if this happened, god knows what would happen. I'm guessing it'd tear out of the MacBook pro before doing damage to it, but who knows what would happen to the stick itself.

I would like to use one in a MacBook, but expect it to be inconvenient.

What I would like to see is the ability to plug the Hybrid into a MacMini, then have it stream the information wirelessly to EyeTV software on the MacBook.

Another PVR question

OK, I know there are a million of these EyeTV/PVR threads going, but I didn't find an answer to this after reading through several of them. Is there an Elgato or Miglia (or other) product out there that can record the encoded HD signal for stations like HBO? I kind of thought that if the unit was placed between the cable box and the TV (as opposed to the cable jack and the cable box) it might work, but there must be a reason why that won't work. I'd like to buy one, but I'd also like to avoid the disappointment of the thing not doing what I'm hoping it will do.

I'm on Time Warner digital cable in NYC.

Thanks for any help.
