Wanted to ask if anyone can shed light on why for the majority of sites that use 2FA, when it says it will send a code to your cell, why that can't be seen on the mac?

Maybe for 1 in 10-15 sites, I will see the code show up in imessage on my mac but for the most part I only see the message on the phone. Makes it nice for logging into those sites on the phone since it pops up as a code gleaned from a message and you can press it to auto fill in. But for the times I'm trying to get into 2FA sites on my macs, I have to have my phone handy to retrieve the code.

I checked settings and see that my number is enabled for sending/receiving from my cell number. All other messages appear to come through fine.

Using a 2014 mac mini and a 2013 maybe macbook air. iphone is 12 pro max.

Are there restrictions apple has that limit/contain codes like that just to the cell platform?

Thanks
