Anyone have any fixes for why Amazon and Notes don’t take any notice of Face ID and remain open to all. All settings indicate otherwise. Amazon is in list of apps for Face ID. Notes is set to Face ID but not in list. Opening phone and banking app works fine.

Anyone come across this. Latest iOS on a 14. Thanks.

For Notes, you have to lock the individual notes you want to lock. (When viewing a note, tap the three dots and lock it.) Face ID only applies to notes that are locked...not the Notes app itself.

As for Amazon, in Settings it says: "Biometric authentication is a secure way to avoid having to type your password every time Amazon needs to verify your identity (e.g., when looking at credit card information)." I've never been prompted for Face ID or even a password when looking at my credit card information though. I know many other people have had the same problem. I'm thinking the app no longer asks for authentication here, or it's used for some other feature within the app I haven't used yet.

Thanks yeh. Notes I saw that but won’t let me for some reason. I’m not bothered about that one really. Nothing of worth in there. Just wondered why it won’t work.

But Amazon, I’ve spent way too long on trying to sort out. Literally tried everything. App just remains open all the time. Doesn’t need any Face ID for browsing or purchasing. I’ve looked in ‘other apps that use Face ID’ in settings, and also Amazon in the app list, and the biometric is ticked and the Face ID is ticked. Still, it doesn’t use it. I’ve tried off and on and restarting phone etc. Absolutely useless. Yahoo mail worked in a second. Something not quite right with the Amazon one.

As for resetting Face ID. The fact it works on everything except Amazon, would indicate it’s definitely them not that.

It's up to the developer of the app on how and where they use Face ID within their app. The thing is no one seems to know how/where Amazon is using it, if at all. I've been struggling with it ever since Amazon added support back when it was Touch ID. Many others have too. https://www.geekwire.com/2014/amazon-app-iphone-gives-new-meaning-1-click-touch-id-support/

The 'other apps that use Face ID' list is just a list of apps that have requested to use Face ID in the past; it doesn't necessarily mean it's still using it, or will use it. For Amazon, as far as I can tell, it requested if I wanted to enable Face ID after the initial log in...but it was never to be seen again since. Makes no sense to me.

Thanks. Thought it was me. I have seen videos of Amazon app working where you see the Face ID logo working on log in.

I’m pretty sure I’ve tried every option. It’s definitely not on. I can block the camera and no other Face ID app will let you in. But Amazon will, and does at every point. Ordering. Viewing. Paying. Etc. So it definitely doesn’t work

UPDATE

I contacted Amazon, who told me to remove the app and reinstall, which as you have all guessed achieved absolutely nothing whatsoever, except...... the ON/OFF slide option in setting for Amazon that says 'Face ID', is now not there at all. So it's now being made even more impossible to implement. You're welcome.
